Deanna’s love of outdoor education and general wanderlust have led her all over the place, and eventually to Southern California, which she never expected to like as much as she does.  Wide open spaces of all kinds call to her, and she is thus drawn to the desert and the ocean.  Deanna has worked for Audubon, the YMCA, the Nature Conservancy, Student Conservation Association and the Whale Camp.  She has a degree in Environmental Education.

Rena Payan

Rena
Medical Director

Rena believes her life experiences can not be summed up in a few sentences. However, she will tell that although she has been with Pathfinder many years, and occasionally leaves to try other adventures (in the wilds of Alaska or Hawaii, for example), she finds the people at Pathfinder Ranch as well as the experiences that they give children can not be matched, and that makes her proud to be part of such a wonderful staff.  Rena is a nationally certified EMT.

Kate Moran

Kate
Assistant Medic and Wrangler

After finishing college, Kate could finally relieve her restless soul by moving west to California, leaving Detroit in her trails of dust. She has a severe obsession with horses, mountains and bodies of water, and has thus settled quite nicely at Pathfinder Ranch. She is now the Assistant Medical Director and Horse Wrangler. Her favorite foods include cheese, bread, butter and chocolate. She is an adrenaline junkie who has done everything from bungy jumping and skydiving in New Zealand to snorkeling the reefs of Fiji.
